Empowering Independence Through Expert OT Assessments

We offer a range of assessments and reports tailored to your funding pathway — including NDIS, Medicare, DVA, Worker’s Compensation, CTP, and Aged Care services.

Types of OT Assessment we Offer

At Steps2Life, we provide comprehensive Occupational Therapy (OT) assessments for adults across Sydney—including Parramatta, Regents Park, and Penrith. Our goal is to help you achieve greater independence and improve daily living through tailored, evidence-based evaluations.

We work with NDIS participants, Medicare, private health, and self-funded clients.

Functional Capacity Assessment (FCA)

A detailed assessment identifying your ability to perform daily tasks and your support needs under NDIS. Ideal for new plans, reviews, or significant life changes.

Assistive Technology (AT) Assessment

Recommends suitable equipment and devices to promote independence and safety—from mobility aids to adaptive technology.

Home Modification Assessment

Evaluates your living environment and provides recommendations for accessibility and safety improvements.

Independent Living & Daily Skills Assessment

Determines the level of support needed for self-care, domestic tasks, community participation, and work.

Supported Independent Living (SIL) & Specialist Disability Accommodation (SDA) Assessments

Children and adults who lack social communication skills frequently find it difficult to engage in conversation with others.

Fine Motor Skills Assessment

Focuses on hand-eye coordination, dexterity, and motor control essential for tasks like writing, dressing, and tool use. Ideal for individuals recovering from injury or neurological conditions.

Gross Motor Skills Assessment

Evaluates balance, coordination, strength, and mobility. Helps identify supports or interventions to improve physical function and independence.

School Readiness Assessment

For children transitioning from preschool or childcare to primary school, this assessment measures foundational skills needed for successful participation in the classroom, including attention, emotional regulation, fine and gross motor skills, early literacy, and social interaction.

Frequently Asked Questions

1. What is a Functional Capacity Assessment (FCA)?

A Functional Capacity Assessment (FCA) is a detailed evaluation by an Occupational Therapist to determine how you manage everyday activities such as self-care, domestic tasks, work, and community participation. The report outlines your abilities, areas of difficulty, and recommended supports—often used for NDIS plan reviews or new applications.

2. Who can access an OT assessment at Steps2Life?

Our assessments are open to NDIS participants (self, plan, or NDIA-managed), Medicare and private health clients, and self-funded individuals. We also accept referrals from GPs, Support Coordinators, and allied-health professionals.

3. Can OT assessments be done at home or via telehealth?

Yes. We offer flexible assessment options across Sydney, including in-clinic appointments (North Parramatta, Regents Park, Penrith), home visits, and telehealth sessions for convenience and accessibility.

4. How long does the OT assessment process take?

Most assessments take 1–2 hours, depending on complexity. A comprehensive written report is typically completed within 10–14 business days, including tailored recommendations aligned with NDIS or clinical standards.

5. Do I need a referral to book an OT assessment?

No referral is needed for NDIS or private clients. If you’re accessing services through Medicare, you’ll need a Chronic Disease Management Plan (CDM) from your GP to receive a rebate.
