Art Therapy Expression, Healing and Growth Through Creativity

Creative art therapy session

Creative Therapy for Emotional Expression and Growth

No artistic skill required — just an open mind. Our art therapists use creative processes to help children and adults express emotions, process experiences and build confidence in ways words sometimes can’t.

  • Explore feelings and experiences through creative activities when words are difficult.
  • Sessions tailored to your goals for emotional expression, regulation and communication.
  • Take part in individual or small-group sessions without needing artistic experience.
  • Your therapist can coordinate with our other clinicians around shared goals, with your consent.
  • Flexible appointments to fit your routine: clinic, home or telehealth, where suitable and available.

What We Do

  • Individual Art Therapy

One-to-one sessions tailored to personal goals, using creative processes to support emotional expression, regulation, and communication in a structured therapeutic setting.

  • School-Based Art Therapy

Art therapy delivered within the school environment to support emotional regulation, peer interaction, and classroom engagement, in collaboration with families and educators where appropriate.

  • Art Therapy for Mental Health

A supportive space to explore thoughts, feelings, and experiences through creative processes, helping individuals develop practical coping strategies and build resilience in everyday life.

Emotional Expression

Emotional Expression

For individuals who find it difficult to express thoughts and feelings verbally, creative activities provide an alternative, accessible pathway. Art therapy offers a structured and safe space to help to build emotional awareness and self-regulation skills over time.

Behaviour and Sensory Regulation

Creative activities involving materials with varied textures, colours, and sensory properties can be used therapeutically to support sensory regulation and build calming strategies. Art therapy may complement occupational therapy and behaviour support for individuals with sensory processing differences.

Communication Development

For children and adults who find verbal communication challenging, art therapy can support alternative forms of expression and interaction. Visual and creative methods may help individuals share ideas, experiences, and preferences in ways that feel more accessible.

Social Participation

Group art therapy sessions encourage turn-taking, shared attention, cooperative engagement, and confidence in social settings. Structured creative tasks provide natural opportunities to practise social skills within a supportive therapeutic environment.
