If you live in regional NSW and can't access a local NDIS allied health provider, Steps 2 Life brings speech therapy, occupational therapy, psychology and more directly to you — no travel, no waitlists for the next city appointment.

NDIS Registered Provider AHPRA-Registered Clinicians Currently accepting NSW telehealth clients

64,000+ NDIS participants live outside major NSW cities. The nearest speech pathologist is often 2+ hours away. Behaviour support waitlists run 6–12 months. Telehealth changes this — and your NDIS plan already covers it.

Telehealth & NDIS — Common Questions

Is telehealth funded by the NDIS?
Yes. The NDIS Pricing Arrangements and Price Limits 2024–25 explicitly permit telehealth delivery for allied health supports. Your provider claims using the standard support line items via the myplace portal — the same items as in-person sessions. You do not need any additional NDIS approval for telehealth; it simply needs to be agreed in your Service Agreement with Steps 2 Life.
Do I need a doctor's referral to start?
No referral is required. You do need an active NDIS plan with capacity in the relevant support category (e.g. Improved Daily Living for OT and speech therapy; Improved Health and Wellbeing for dietetics; Support Coordination if you need help navigating the process). Contact us and we will check your plan with you at no cost.
What technology do I need?
A device with a camera and microphone (laptop, tablet, or smartphone) and a stable internet connection (4G mobile data is usually sufficient for most rural areas). We use a secure video platform that runs in a standard web browser — no app download required.
Can telehealth really be as effective as in-person therapy?
For many therapy types — including speech pathology, psychology, OT skills training, and behaviour support — telehealth outcomes are comparable to in-person delivery according to peer-reviewed evidence. The greater benefit for rural participants is that telehealth enables consistent sessions without travel barriers. Missed sessions are the biggest predictor of poor outcomes; removing the 2-hour drive removes the main barrier to attendance.
How long until I can start?
After you enquire, our intake team will be in touch to confirm your plan funding and match you with the right clinician. Time to your first session depends on clinician availability in your service area — we'll give you a clear timeframe when we speak. [internal note: confirm intake SLA before any paid traffic. Do not use "immediately" or "this week" unless genuinely true at time of launch. and plan confirmation." Capacity-honest language is required under NDIS Code of Conduct.]
I'm a support coordinator — how do I refer a participant?
We welcome referrals from support coordinators. Fill in the form on this page selecting "Support Coordinator" as your role, or call us directly on 1300 009 006. We will confirm available services for your client's plan, provide a Service Agreement, and keep you updated on progress. We understand the importance of reliable reporting for plan reviews.
Is my information kept private?
Yes. All client information is handled in accordance with the Australian Privacy Act 1988, the NDIS Act 2013, and Steps 2 Life's Privacy Policy. We will never share your information without your explicit consent.
